This is the second post from the Black N Love Series, a curation of topics around the Black Community and Love during the month of February.
All you need is one; that is what I hear (and tell) people desiring to get married. In an effort to encourage those in this season, I have affectionately renamed this from "How I You Know You've Been on Dating Apps Too Long."
In honor of the beloved sitcom Friends, I have enumerated 14 "ones" you find on all dating apps. While I cannot guarantee you will get married, I can guarantee you are valuable-precious, and more than any profile you may or may not have. Here's to a few laughs to encourage you in singleness.
List of "One(s)" below the jump.
"The One:"
you want to ask where the photo was taken for travel-related inquiries.
you want to double-take for comedic effect (You are not serious...).
you see is perfect for a friend (match-making text complete).
with the fake name. Did your mom really name you that? Cue the side eye.
with the familiar face (have I seen you before?).
with a "this should be super impressive, yet vague" job title.
with good food (what time is dinner?).
with a marriage ring/pictured significant other (Really!? You and your siblings are close!).
with the obviously-fake profile (Bot anyone?).
with nothing written in the description.
with no photo (or too much photo).
where the friend or relative admittedly made the profile (Commitment never looked better).
where you cannot tell which one she is (C'mon- it should not be this hard).
where there is a laundry list (of who they are/what they're looking for).
Which "one(s)" have you seen? Do you identify with or as any of these? Start-up the #QuedUpConversations.
