Most well-meaning people, will tell you there is at least a desire to know what God would have him/her to do at any given moment- even if it is not what he or she "really wants" to do at that given moment. Fair enough- this Christian is guilty as charged. Yet, we are often too busy to notice the circumstances and people around us to discern if we are actually getting real-time life play-by-play clues from God. Partially motivated by people that discovered a cadre of unhealthy haters surrounding them and less need for counsel and validation, people did what they thought best, doing what they wanted to do without making room for outside correction. Enter the term I am calling "seeking in silence," or reflection on interactions and emotions I recall from the day or last couple of days within the week. With each, I am responding with why and asking what might God be trying to show me based upon my knowledge of scripture and personal relationship with Him. In the past year-ish, maybe longer (I am feeling aging's effects on my memory), I have made it a practice to remember the what and who of my days. It is kind of like journaling, but way shorter. Jotting these things down have helped me to connect smaller threads and understand a grander narrative I likely would not have seen previously. And in doing so, God has downloaded some of the most acute observations and heightened sensitivities I likely missed years before. What's next in your streaming cue? Join the #QuedUpConversation
