The Verdict: You Know Better
I did not even bother defining petty. You know what it is. Ironically, it is one of my favorite subjects; I could write (and laugh) on this topic all-day, but I have restrained myself to writing a list of select seven (7). Although petty has no limits (believe me- I can be chief), I am pre-scripting some of the ones I try to stay away from. I hope this list motivates you with some tongue-and-cheek. As I try NOT to meditate and dwell on these, I am encouraging us to do better. We just need a little more thought. Stay away from the following; you are too good for this, fam. Let's get some medals for running the race, just not with what's below the jump.
Starting with a, "I hope you are/this note finds you well." (#Transactional- full stop)
Not responding to texts and/or taking 2-3 days to conjure up a response and then come up with some lame excuse. (You better be glad I have a phone plan with unlimited and am not on a prepaid device)
Carbon copying/replying all with your stream of consciousness instead of having one-one-one and smaller group conversations. (Because everyone needs to see you throw a virtual temper tantrum...)
Refusing to say "No" when you are no(t) interested and there is no value to be had. (Just let us down easy and hold your respect card)
Declining a meeting invite without reading the body or suggesting an alternative time. (Because your time is the only one that matters...)
Apologizing for asking something you know you have no business asking. (Don't try to transfer and rid yourself of guilt; just sit in your ridiculousness for a minute)
Looking at someone's LinkedIn profile you know and not extending an invitation to connect and/or not reaching out . (We see your "anonymity")
Got more? Let me know what makes and tops your list.
